The Murder Of Leanne Tiernan
Leanne Tiernan was a young girl who was brutally murdered at the tender age of 16 by evil John Taylor.
John Taylor was brought up in Leeds. When he was young he used to love hunting and had a strange pleasure in killing and torturing small animals, such as rabbits. He had many difficulties with personal relationships, however later married and 2 children, a boy and a girl. His difficulty with relationships then began to show and he divorced, living alone as a parcel delivery man. John's neighbors thought of him as a decent man but behind closed doors John was advertising his need for female companions and often travelled distances for sex.
In 2000, Leanne was on her way home after going Christmas shopping with friends. After Leanne said goodbye to her friends, and took a shortcut home she was never seen again. Her family made appeals and the police gave information on a dog walker that doesn't normally walk around the area, and wasn't seen again after Leanne's murder.
8 months later in Yorkshire, a local walker came across Leanne's body which was just the beginning of a major murder investigation. Her body showed that she had been strangled and abducted. When investigating Leanne's body the police found no traces of the murderer's DNA. This was disappointing so police then made an appeal for information on people linked with both areas. This generated lots of names, including a John Taylor, a poacher who regularly went to the woods. They then tried to find records of who had purchased the dog collar that was found around Leanne's neck, one supplier had kept a record of customers and this included a certain John Taylor who then became the prime suspect.
John Taylor was then investigated and further links were made when cable ties found on Leanne's body were from Parcel Force, where John works. The police then started to investigate with the help of forensics. A few pink fibres were found on Leanne's body, indistinguishable from pink fibres found at Johns house from a pink carpet, which he had tried to destroy but failed to do so. After searching his house further, forensics found Leanne's blood under the floorboards and a shattered dogs skull in the garden.
A further 2 months after Leanne's body was found John Taylor was arrested for murder and abduction to which he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two life sentences. Once John was on the database, he was then also found guilty of two rapes and sentenced to another two life sentences.
